Midnight Mysteries: The Edgar Allan Poe Conspiracy

August 4, 2009 by Scott

Edgar Allan Poe is easily one of the greatest authors the world has ever known. His cryptic tales of horror are timeless and enjoyed by just about everyone. Stories like “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “The Fall of the House of Usher” will never be forgotten. He died in 1849 of an unknown cause and was in great distress just before his death. It will be your job to investigate what could have happened in Midnight Mysteries: The Edgar Allan Poe Conspiracy!  Published and developed by Mumbo Jumbo, this adventure game was released on 7/17/09.

Players will take on the role of a famous writer who has knack for solving cold cases that even the most prudent of detectives cannot. In the middle of the night, the main character is visited by the ghost of Edgar Allan Poe. The two authors have a conversation, and Poe invites him to a Bicentennial celebration of Poe’s life and works. While there, the author will be expected to gather clues about Poe’s death and end the mystery once and for all.

Exploring Poe’s works such as The Gold Bug and The Mystery of Marie Roget will help the main character to more quickly get the job done.  Hints are available if you get stuck while trying to crack the case. Gamers will feel like they are actually in the game. The graphics are stellar, but not the best on the market. Finding out who murdered Poe and how he died won’t be easy, but you are up for the task!
