Microsoft Releases New Version Of Mediaroom

January 8, 2010 by Sanjay

Redmond, Washington-headquartered Microsoft Corporation has unveiled a new version, Version 2.0, of its Mediaroom software that is aimed at the Television platform.

The new version makes it possible for the client software to hook up to services in the cloud. With this new facility, users will be able to find, discover and experience greater variety of content to watch and engage in on their TV sets. This includes all the software that has been loaded on a given web. The software makes it possible for operators to remove redundant systems from their infrastructure, lowering their costs. Further, it expands the options in the menu that they can in turn offer to their customers.

Version 1.0 of Mediaroom had made it possible for consumers to watch operator-hosted content and internet TV on their TV screen, besides providing the facility to view content on demand as well record it. Subscribers can now build a queue of videos on smartphone that they wish to watch one after another. This queue can be moved later to a TV or PC and the balance content can be watched there.
