Microsoft Acquires Healthcare Software Company
February 3, 2010 by Sanjay
Redmond, Washington-headquartered Microsoft Corporation has announced the acquisition of a software company engaged in the healthcare domain. The name of the company is Sentillion Inc.
Sentillion has been a privately held company with the headquarters located in Andover, Massachusetts, and an office located in Surrey in the UK. The company was founded in 1998 by Robert Seliger who was also its CEO and member of the board of Directors.
The company has diverse products all targeted at caregivers and hospital IT organizations. Its “expreSSO” solution, for example, provides a single sign-on solution which is transparent within existing clinical workflows. Its “Vergence” software product is a suite that combines SSO with context management and strong authentication to provide a fully integrated and managed clinical workstation. The “proVision” software automates centralized policies for creating, managing, suspending or terminating network and application accounts.
The acquisition by Microsoft implies that the company’s assets will be merged into Microsoft’s Health Solutions Group. The company will however continue to operate out of its offices in Andover, and sell and support its existing product line. Microsoft will now work on integrating Sentillion solutions into its own products and offer combined solutions to its worldwide customers.
