Two New Computing Machines From Dell

February 8, 2010 by Sanjay

Round Rock, Texas-headquartered Dell Inc has launched two new machines this week.

The first is a laptop christened “Latitude 13″. The second is a mobile workstation called “Precision M6500″.

Latitude 13 incorporates features such as remote management, optional integrated Webcam / microphone, and internet connectivity, along with desktop virtualization through certification from Citrix and VMware. The laptop can be configured to operate in non-standard computing environments such as call centers, hotels and regional offices, due to the virtualization-ready design. The laptop comes with solid state drives and trusted platform module (TPM) control software.

Precision M6500 is touted by the company as “the world’s most powerful mobile workstation”. The system comes with a choice between Core i7 and Core i5 dual core processors, and another choice between 1066Mhz, 1333Mhz and 1600Mhz memory RAMs. The workstation supports all versions of Microsoft Windows as well as Ret Hat Linux 5.3 64 bit. The M6500 has a screen display of 17″.

Precision M6500 is the only machine, according to the company, which offers optional RAID 5 and three internal storage devices. This gives the user the freedom to connect storage drives whose capacities cumulatively go up to 1TB.
