The life of a gangster seems like an exciting one. Since most of the things they do are highly dangerous and illegal, we live vicariously through video games and movies to see what their lives are like. We have all seen movies like Scorcese’s Casino and GoodFellas, but what if you’re looking for your daily gangster fix? Look no further than Zynga Inc’s Mafia Wars!
Mafia Wars is a game that can be played through the popular social networking websites MySpace and Facebook. It can also be played via Yahoo! and the Apple Iphone. Players vie to be the top crime family in New York, and later in Cuba. One of the main goals of this game is grow your mafia by adding friends. When fighting, the larger mafia will usually win. Several “clans” have formed to help gamers reach the maximum mafia size of 500. The old saying goes that no matter how big you are, there is always a bigger fish. That statement is very true for Mafia Wars.
Skills are divided into several categories. They are Attack, Defense, Health, Energy, and Stamina. There are many tiers of jobs such as Enforcer, Capo, Hitman, Underboss, and many more. Gamers have several achievements that can be gained, such as “Cashing Out”. That one is earned by selling 50 Mega Casinos. Mafia Wars earned a People’s Voice Webby Award in 2009. I’ve spent countless hours fighting and doing missions on this game. Mafia Wars is an excellent game for players of all ages!

WW2 Time of Wrath

There is nothing quite like a good World War II game. The Second World War defines much of what we as people do in this modern age. Gaming is an excellent tool for fun, but also to educate the masses on the intricacies of the most massive war mankind has ever known. WW2: Time of Wrath was published by Matrix Games and developed by Wastelands Interactive. It has been set for release on 7/16/09. The strategy game takes World War II to the next level!
This game is a sequel to WW2: Road to Victory. Players can use the turn based system to explore each and every campaign of WWII. One of the best is the Northern Africa campaigns against Nazi General Erwin Rommel and his Afrika Corps. Acting as General Douglas McArthur, you will crush and cripple his evil but mighty group of soldiers; or will you? Gamers will have the choice to play as Axis powers and change the course of history!
Players of WW2: Time of Wrath will control all aspects of the country they are ruling. This includes economic, political, and of course military decisions. The slightest variation could lead to success or defeat. Gamers can try to replicate the success of the Allied powers, or try to succeed where the Japanese and the other Axis powers failed. Owners of WW2: Road to Victory will be able to download the game free of charge. I suggest buying this game if you have an interest in history or if you are a fan of turn based strategy games.

Spore Galactic Adventure is rated E10+ for Everyone over the age of 10 because of animated blood, fantasy violence, and comic mischief. It was released on 6/25/09. Reviewers are raving over the expansion. Gamespot rated it a stellar 8.0 out of 10.
