Adobe Unleashes New Tools At Its Annual MAX Conference

San Jose, California-based Adobe Systems Inc unleashed a set of new tools at its Annual MAX conference held at San Francisco today (November 17).

Confidence shored up by upbeat Q3 results (ending June 30, 2008), the company today announced the release of Adobe Flash Catalyst (earlier called “Thermo”) which is a software tool to aid development workflows by eliminating the need for manual coding to the extent possible. A beta version of Flash Catalyst is likely to be offered on their website early next year.

Also released was the next version of Adobe Flex Builder called “Gumbo”. This product provides a framework for continuous collaboration between designer and developer.

The AIR version 1.5 (codenamed “Cosmo”) is another nifty software development environment making possible internet-rich applications outside the browser window.

An alpha version of 64-bit Flash Player 10 (codenamed “Astro”) for Linux OS has now become available, which removes the headache of 32-bit emulation of earlier Flash Players when having to be installed on 64-bit Linux distributions. The Flash Player 10 has also been configured for smart phones, incorporating features related to the Open Screen Project.

The company’s offering in the cloud-computing arena, christened “CoCoMo”, helps develop real-time, multiuser Flex applications.
