One-Millionth Copy Of ICEfaces Software Downloaded

Calgary, Alberta-based ICEsoft Technologies have announced that the one-millionth copy of their Ajax framework software was downloaded by some developer a few days ago.
Christened “ICEfaces”, the software is an open-source product available free of cost to developers. ICEfaces is an Ajax framework used to build and deploy Java EE applications. ICEfaces provides seamless integration with all leading Java development tools, works with leading application servers and interoperates smoothly with Java EE middleware. Applications built using ICEfaces are Java applications and not JavaScript applications.
A key feature of ICEfaces framework is its “Ajax Push” facility, which enables users at the client end to observe instantaneous data updates, as it is changing at the server end in real-time. With Ajax Push taking care of dynamic data updation, the Java developer is free to focus on enhancing the presentation layer to provide a variety of reporting to the end-user.
The product is claimed to be used by more than two-thirds of Fortune 100 and Forbes Global companies. The latest version, ver 1.7.1 was made available in June this year, and the product boasts of a strong community of 55,000 registered developers worldwide.

Latest Version Of Visualization Suite From ILOG

Gentilly, France-headquartered ILOG Inc. has released the latest version of its Java-based visualization suite – ILOG JViews. According to the company release, version 8.5 of the JViews suite gives developers new features that can enhance rich internet (RIA) as well as desktop applications.
JViews 8.5 provides support to the Eclipse platform offered by Sun Microsystems for Java-based applications. The Graph Layout module specifically designed for Eclipse offers native integration with Eclipse’s Modeling Framework (EMF), Graphical Modeling Framework (GMF) and Graphical Editing Framework (GMF). Visualization has thus been given a new spin by bringing together diagrams, charts, graph layouts and map displays all in one place.

Additionally, ILOG has collaborated with Alberta, Canada-based ICEsoft Technologies wherein JViews 8.5 inherits Ajax-push capabilities of ICEfaces, ICEsoft’s flagship product. Developers can now provide real-time graphical updates in tune with the changes in the underlying data.
ILOG Inc is a world leader in Business Rule Management Systems (BRMS), supply chain applications, and optimization and visualization software components. The company was founded in 1987 and employs 850 people worldwide. The company has recently been acquired by IBM, as part of the latter’s strategy to gain a foothold in the domain of Event Management Systems.
