IBM Acquires BPM Software Company

Armonk, New York-headquartered IBM Corporation has announced that it has acquired a private player in the business process management (BPM) domain. The name of the company been acquired is Lombardi Software Inc, which is based in Austin, Texas.

Lombardi is a leading provider of products and services for business process management. The Lombardi “Blueprint”, a flagship product of the company, enables team members to work on the same process simultaneously or at different times, without having to be familiar with process mapping. The product is cloud-based. Another product, “Teamworks 7″, is a suite of softwares that allows building of BPM applications at a quicker pace.

Lombardi has offices in UK, France and Germany; and in the US, the company has regional offices in California, Massachusetts and Virginia. The company was headed by Rod Favaron, Chairman and CEO.

Post-acquisition, Lombardi’s products will be merged with IBM’s application integration software portfolio. IBM plans to reach out to Lombardi’s existing customers with its entire suite of applications that can be integrated with their existing installations. All employees of Lombardi will be absorbed by IBM.

BPM software is expected to pick up demand in the industry at a CAGR of about 15% in the next four years.
